The CCD binning process affects spatial resolution, sensitivity, SNR, and frame rate of the imaging sensor. In the n × m binning mode as shown in Figure 3966 (for details, click here), the spatial resolution of the CCD decreases n times in vertical and m times in horizontal directions.
