Hybrid pixel array detector (PAD) consists of an array of photodiodes, which are bump-bonded to an application-specific integrated circuit. PADs have been optimized for 4D-STEM through the integration of high-gain and counting circuitry within each pixel, allowing for single-electron sensitivity, high dynamic range, and rapid readout speeds. This detector has also been commercialized and widely used in various 4D-STEM experiments.
