ICC refers to the current consumed by the integrated circuit. Active ICC current specifically refers to the current drawn by the NAND flash memory while it is actively performing operations (e.g., reading, writing, erasing).

In NAND flash memory, ICC refers to the current consumption of the device during different operational modes. Specifically, ICC is used to describe the various supply current levels required for different functions of the NAND flash memory. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • ICC0 (Standby Current): The current consumed by the NAND flash memory when it is in a standby mode, with no read or write operations occurring.
  • ICC1 (Read Current): The current consumed during read operations. This includes the current needed to access and read data from the NAND flash cells.
  • ICC2 (Program Current): The current consumed during programming (writing) operations. This is generally higher than the read current due to the need to charge the floating gate of the memory cells.
  • ICC3 (Erase Current): The current consumed during the erase operations. This involves applying high voltage to the cells to remove the stored charge.
  • ICC4 (Active Current): The current consumed when the NAND flash memory is active, including during command execution and internal operations.

Understanding and managing these currents is crucial for designing power-efficient systems, particularly in battery-powered devices where NAND flash memory is widely used. Manufacturers specify these currents in the device's datasheet to help designers ensure that their power supply can handle the peak current requirements of the NAND flash memory.
