Each space group is named by its Hermann Mauguin symbol and number, as described in International Tables for Crystallography. The only exception is the set of trigonal space groups with an R-lattice. For these space groups, the atomic coordinates are referred to rhombohedral axes, for which r is appended to the conventional symbol.
