| BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is firmware stored on a chip on the motherboard of a computer that initializes and tests the hardware components during the booting process and provides a runtime environment for the operating system to communicate with the hardware. BIOS is responsible for loading the operating system into memory and managing data flow between the operating system and attached devices such as hard drives, keyboards, and mice.
