Figure 3104 shows HRTEM images of an amorphous Cu60Zr20Ti20 specimen formed by melt-spinning [1]. The bright and dark contrast of the interconnected network indicates a compositional inhomogeneity in the materials, indicating a tendency of phase separation. In the FFT (fast Fourier transform) patterns, two halos corresponding to two different near-neighbor distances represent a phase separation of the glass. The maxima with a d-spacing of 0.21 nm correspond to 410 plane of Cu51Zr14 (Cu rich Zr poor region), while the maxima with a d-spacing of 0.243 nm correspond to 111 plane of Zr2Cu phase (Zr rich Cu poor regions).
