The separation between two Kikuchi lines, generated by corresponding diffraction or transmission spots, is the same as the separation between the two spots, for instance the transmission spot (0 0 0) and the diffraction spot (h k l). Therefore, the Kikuchi lines can be indexed in a similar way to indexing a diffraction pattern.
