The theory of fringe-visibility band map can be applied to determine the lattice parameters of single particles. In general, Figure 2726 shows the procedure of this method. The green arrows show the trajectory for acquiring three basis-fringe (reciprocal lattice) vectors from a randomly oriented unknown particle. In this way, the crystal is first tilted around an axis parallel to a set of fringes until the center of the visibility band is located, and then is tilted around axes perpendicular to other sets of fringes until cross-fringe intersections (marked “Zone A” and “Zone B”) with other bands are encountered.
