There are two options which are used to subtract the background spectrum for quantitative analysis in NSS software:
         i) Gaussian which uses Kramer’s law.
         ii) Filter which is a digital top hat filter.

With automatic elemental identification of NSS software, some elements cannot be correctly identified under some conditions, e.g. Ce usually cannot be identified. Instead, the software incorrectly suggests Ti, Fe, Co, Os, and Pb everywhere in elemental maps.
